Semester 1.5 was entitled Architecture and Environment. The module was dedicated to learning and understanding the shared relationship that exists between the architectural and its surrounding environment.
In addition, we were made aware of the depths to which human activities can have tremendous impact and effect on our surroundings—whether that be in a beneficial or harmful capacity.

For the second and last project for this module, we were given the assignment of understanding the principles of artificial lighting through the Lumen Method (a calculation of the total number of lumens available in a room divided by the area of the room). This project was done through group activity, with 6 students comprising the members of each team. The task was to choose and decide on an indoor space with the measure approximating 10m x 6m. My group picked the National Textile Museum, located in Jalan Sultan Hishammuddin, Kuala Lumpur.

The project was to be presented in the format of two A2-sized boards. Our final presentation is in PNG format below—as well as in PDF format at the bottom of this page.
Outcome
Reflection
We chose the place with the least amount of light and the place that required most amount of fixation. During the studies for lighting design, we were introduced to ambient lighting and that’s what we used for the lighting fixation. We learnt how to do the reflective ceiling plan and how to fix the lux calculation for each room.
